Watchout for Nail-Spiked Roads!

February 1, 2009 by retarded1

According to an article by the Jakarta Post, five areas in Jakarta now have new street signs warning people of nail-spiked roads and pointing them to the nearest tire repair shop. These are created not by the transportation department, but by students from a local university. Interesting huh?I think besides the location they’ve put for the signs already, why not put one also under the Semanggi Overpass and the whole stretch of Kuningan where numerous outings by police have resulted in a Kg of nail in the former. For the latter?I’ve experienced it a few times, and the road is not lit properly considering it a main South-North Artery and is the heart of the embassy district. Tell your Flat Tire story below!

EPL now on the new Aora TV, Serie A on TelkomVision

August 25, 2008 by retarded1

For you soccer football fanatics out there in Jakarta, you might must wonder where did the action go on your- still not a year- Astro TV. Turns out a new player in the pay TV market, Aora TV, has bought the rights of the 2008-09 season. The rates for getting the action without killing your bandwidth is going to be Rp. 1,7 million for a year and has to be paid upfront. If you decide to cancel the subscription before a year you are going to get Rp. 200,000 back. This service currently features only 12 channels, but has the History Channel and The Crime and Investigation channel for those history and crime buffs out there. According to an email I recieved from Aora TV, they plan to add on 50-70 channels between now and January. Those channels will include all of Astro’s channel plus some more interesting content not on Astro such as TV3 Malaysia and HBO SIgnature. If you can’t wait to cancel your Astro subscription and your less than a year in subscribing, it will cost Rp. 500,000 to cancel it. Plus to add on the burden of TV monopolying, Serie A, which last year was available on Free to air TV, now only is available on TelkomVision. Ouch!

August 22, 2008 by retarded1

If any of you were one of the lucky ones today to get FREE ANYTHING at Domino’s, yes that is true from 5.30 PM to 9.30 PM Friday, Be happy!. The U.S. based chain opened it’s first store in Indonesia on Friday and were giving its customers a wonderful treat. To make the news even better, the chain is going to open until 1 a.m. on weekends. The store is located in a small part of the now defunct Toys R’ US Indonesia in the Ranch Market complex. The prices (yes if you missed out) are lower than its American brother. I remember getting slips of Domino’s in the U.S. costing $10 a meal that consists of pizza and a drink. Here it cost Rp. 65,000 for the same thing. Here are the pics of the proof of the giveaway( I ordered more than that just to let you know!):

JORR W2 (Serpong Toll Road-Merak Toll Road) land acquisition to be finished in October, W1 finished by the end of 2008

July 23, 2008 by retarded1

In this blog, I will be posting new construction projects that are going on as well. As reported in today’s Kompas, the land acquisition problem that has plagued the JORR W2 for a decade is finally going to end in October. Jakarta officials have sent teams from both West Jakarta and South Jakarta to acquire land from their unfortunate owners in order to create space for the new road that will connect the neighborhoods of Pondok Indah, Ciledug, Kebon Jeruk and Puri Indah ( The new road terminates at the Puri Indah Mall Intersection of the Jakarta- Merak Toll Road) in less than 15 minutes, which is impossible to achieve today. Also in the news is that the JORR W1 connecting Puri Indah and the Airport Toll Road is scheduled to finish at the end of this year. The currently 40% complete highway is set to provide a quicker route to the airport for residents of Serpong, Tangerang, Kebon Jeruk and Lippo Karawaci. Also in the rainy season, when the airport toll roads gets flooded at Km’s 24-27, this will provide a highway route to the airport, considering that currently the only alternative routes are only local streets. How about that? Pondok Indah to Soekarno-Hatta in just 30 minutes? Sweetttttttttt…………

Be careful when sliding down on FX’s Atmosfear!

July 21, 2008 by retarded1

So you picked that lucky card that can be exchanged for a ride down the world’s longest slider, the Atmosfear. Sliding down from the new mall’s Platinum XXI floor ( or F7 as they call it in FX) (or just the 7th floor for all of you that just dont understand) to the mall’s lobby could be a rough even bloody ride. One of my friends knee , who was one of those lucky ones ( if you ain’t lucky, like me you just get 2 small chocolates) was bleeding after sliding down. The person said” The knee protection is like a toy”. The person even observed that the gloves used to sliding down were a bit torned up, considering the mall just opened up this month. So for all of you guys who are lucky enough to get the card, better not be wearing shorts…or you know the consequences.

Btw for all of you that ddin’t know here are the requirements to get the slider ticket ( as of this writing) :

  • Minimum purchase of Rp. 100,000( Instant Ticket) OR
  • Minimum purchase of Rp. 1 to be eligible for the draw

The draw has 10 cards and only 2 of them contain the rights for a plunge down the Atmosfear. The rest are free wifi, free chocolates , free parking and free pens.
